BREAKING: Angelica Brophy Search Takes A New Turn As Investigators Follow Fresh Leads

The large-scale search for 44-year-old Angelica Brophy has been suspended in California, but authorities say the investigation into the missing mother and emergency room nurse remains active.

Angelica was reported missing to the Oceanside Police Department on July 6, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Investigators later determined that her last known location was Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center at around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.

About 50 minutes after leaving the resort, investigators determined that Angelica entered Palomar Mountain State Park after purchasing a parking ticket. Her vehicle was discovered in the park on July 9, but Angelica was not with it.

The discovery immediately triggered an extensive search operation. Teams from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit, California State Parks, Oceanside Police, and other agencies worked through the area looking for any indication of where Angelica might have gone.

Search teams also conducted operations around a nearby pond. Dive teams from California State Parks and the Port of San Diego Harbor Police participated in efforts to locate Angelica, but those searches did not produce the result investigators were hoping for.

Investigators also attempted to locate Angelica through her cellphone. On July 8, detectives contacted her carrier and attempted to obtain a phone location, but the effort was unsuccessful because the device appeared to be turned off or had run out of battery.

In the weeks that followed, detectives continued developing and following up on new leads. According to Oceanside police, three additional searches were conducted inside Palomar Mountain State Park based on potential investigative information. Angelica was still not located.

On July 22, authorities announced that coordinated ground search operations in the state park had been suspended after extensive efforts had been carried out. The decision does not mean the investigation has ended. Police say detectives will continue pursuing new information and credible leads as they emerge.

One important point from investigators has remained consistent: police say there is currently no evidence of foul play in Angelica’s disappearance. Oceanside Police Chief Taurino Valdovinos said investigators will nevertheless continue working closely with Angelica’s family to locate her.

For Angelica’s family, the pause in organized ground searches does not mean the search for answers is over. Relatives and community members have continued sharing information and urging anyone who may have seen Angelica or noticed something unusual around the time she disappeared to contact investigators.

The case now enters a different stage. Instead of relying primarily on large-scale ground operations, detectives are expected to continue examining information, reviewing leads, and following up on evidence that could help establish what happened after Angelica’s last confirmed movements.

Angelica remains missing, and authorities have not announced a definitive explanation for her disappearance. For her family and those searching for her, the hope remains that one overlooked detail, credible tip, or newly developed lead could provide the breakthrough needed to finally locate her.
